About Dr. Naveena

Dr. Naveena is the medical director and chief ophthalmic consultant. She has completed her M.B.B.S and M.S in Ophthalmology from KMC and Sarojini Devi Eye hospital (Osmania University) Hyderabad, respectively.
She further expanded her skills from premier institutes as a Fellow ...in Phacoemulsification and Cataract surgery from Shankara Netralaya, Chennai and a Fellow in Glaucoma from L.V. Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad. Her area of expertise extends to the management of cataract, glaucoma, corneal disorders. She has hence been practicing as an anterior segment surgeon since the past 20 years.
Additionally, she also practices refractive surgeries (Lasik and laser surgeries) to help young patients gain freedom from glasses.
Under Dr. Naveena’s guidance, philanthropic activities like social awareness events and eye camps in rural areas, school and corporate offices have been done.
In association with Prerhnaa Charitable Trust ( a non-profit organization), Dr Naveena and her team has conducted numerous charity screening eye programs for glasses use, glaucoma and cataract surgeries so far.

After you have settled in your doctor’s office, you will be asked your complaints and medical history briefly. Your vision and eye pressure will be checked. Then , depending on the condition, follow up investigations are done. You will given your medicines prescription and follow up date.
Patients commonly seek an appointment with an ophthalmologist when one experiences redness, watering, itching of the eyes or when there is blurring or disturbance in vision to name a few conditions.
It depends on what complaints you have and how they progress. Best to ask your ophthalmologist.

An Ophthalmologist goes to a medical school followed by one year of internship. After that, they pursue 3 years of residency. Some do months/years of fellowship.

If your child is old enough to understand, do explain to them that there will be an eye exam and it will be quick. The doctor will ask your child to identify letters or shapes or objects to establish their visual acuity. Additionally, the doctor might put eyedrops which might sting a little, but won’t hurt.

The doctor may use drops to dilate your eye to get a complete picture of the inside of your eye.
Do bring along someone to drive you home as your vision will be blurry for a few hours.
